OK wwoof'ing is legit and a great way to live in a new community with like minded people. But it is hard work.
India is dirt cheap, Europe is expensive. And I like the Lonely Planet Guides.

It is your life,
but remember freedom = responsibility. You want to the freedom to do what you want with you life, and as soon as you do you will be the only one responsible for you and your choices. This is not a bad thing, but it is the truth. Your plan includes going home to shower and get ready to go back to school, so make sure you don't burn any bridges, and that your parents are OK with that part of the plan.
I would also say do take the time as you explore this great world and enjoy the adventures it is full of, to still make the time and effort and get a degree/education/ training. Not all education takes place in schools (true that), but at the same time having that piece of paper can really make a difference later in life.
References :
Yes, the Swiss type C residence permit waives the visa requirement to the other Schengen countries; same applies to a visa issued by Switzerland if it is a type C visa and it states valid for "Schengen States" in the first column.

European Union Citizens

Any EU citizen intending to stay in Spain for more than three months is obligated to register at the Foreigner's Offices (Oficinas de Extranjería) - or local police station if there is no foreigner's office of the place they intend to stay. A registration certificate as an EU Resident (certificado de registro) is issued. This document certifies their residence in Spain and states name, address, nationality, and the foreigners tax identification or NIE (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) number along with date of registration.

Note: Previous to the introduction of this registration certificate in April 2007, foreigners had to apply separately for an NIE number. This is now incorporated in the residence certificate application process.

You can get details on what to do at the link below.
References :
http://spain.angloinfo.com/countries/spain/residency.asp

In need of practical traveling and what-to-do-with-your-life advice?
So I am an 18 year old female and I basically dropped out of college my sophomore year, bought a one way ticket to Alaska and am now living here with family and working two jobs here.

Originally, I was just taking a semester off from school because: I got depressed, I was tired of being undeclared and having no definite ambition, and I felt like I started college too young at 16, so I wanted some time off to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. So I decided that I wanted to do film and try and get into the conservatory at my school. I missed the deadline so I'm applying for the Fall 2012 semester. My parents are beyond pissed with this decision. They're really old school Spanish immigrants and they don't understand why I don't just get over whatever it is that I'm feeling and just do something practical to make money and be able to support myself and make a decent living. But I know that that's not going to make me happy. My heart is restless and I am not content and right now I just want to travel the world.

So here's the part where I need a realistic point of view - I'm planning on working this whole summer and saving as much as I can. I work at the airport so I'm working on getting flight discounts so that I can book flights for the next few months. I don't want to be in Alaska for the winter but I don't want to go back home to live with my overbearing parents so here's the plan:

First stop, around September or November when I think I'll have enough saved up, Hawaii. I've always wanted to go there, so I did a bit of research and found this website where they have volunteers live on farms in Hawaii. I don't know anything about it and I don't want to get scammed or something worse to happen, so how would I know if it's a legit organization? Here's the website: http://www.wwoofhawaii.org/

Around late April go off to India for about 2 weeks on a college course that I found online. This is one I know is legitimate because I was going last year, I spoke to my college counselor about it and was working it out with the study abroad adviser but in the end my mom didnt let me go. This one I think financial aid would be able to take care of the costs, but I'm not sure because I'm taking the semester off and I don't really know how that works.

After that is over, head on over to Europe and meet up with one of my friends from back home wherever she wants to go to in Europe and just backpack for about a month.

Then go back home and enjoy a warm bath and work and head on over to school in the fall.

So what do you think - Does it sound do-able? Am I crazy for seriously contemplating this? What are the things that I should really prepare for?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

What do I need to work in Spain?
I'm a UK Citizen, if I want to work in Spain temporarily is it the same as working in the UK?

Do I just give them my national insurance number?
I meant Identification.

Toughie toughie toughie haha.

I think the People to People has the slight edge here. So many students would DIE for that opportunity. I know a lot of my friends went to Mexico/Spain for their Spanish classes and they say it's pretty average. I personally hate travelling with groups like that =P Ruins the experience for me.

Staying at a homestay in Great Britain would be great fun :) Just keep in mind what time of year it is.
lol. I was visiting my family in England a few years back, and it was late September/early October and it was FREEZING. lol. Of course I didn't pack like shorts and t-shirts and stuff (haha), but it's a lot colder and wetter than just 'cold' :)
And if you're going to a high school there, they most likely WILL have a uniform you have to wear :)

Yeah. I'd say the UK. Not taking anything away from NY or Spain (love them both), but with this opportunity you have I'd go for it :)

Good luck! Looks like you'll be having fun this year :D
References :
And remember, you're doing this for yourself :) You can always take your Mom to NYC one day :) It's always gonna be there (and be awesome lol). Maybe for her birthday sometime?
Just think: You're not going to be a student forever. You're going to be an adult soon =P Enjoy this opportunity.

I think I would go to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. I would not go with Spanish 3 because in my experience, trips with school do not always go so well. If possible could you also go to NYC?. My first choice would be England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
References :
NYC, Spain, or Great Britain?
I have 3 opportunities for traveling this year, but there's a bit of a problem. I went on a People to People trip this summer, and now I have the chance to go to Scotland, Ireland, England, and Wales.

However, for Spanish 3 this year I have the chance to go to Spain for the week of spring break.

Last but not least, my drama club is going to New York City for President's Day weekend. I initially ruled this one out, but my mother has always wanted to go to NYC, and I really want her to go one day.

I really want to do the People to People trip, because it's way more than any other tourist experience, and I would love to have another homestay. But then again, I don't want to be selfish and have all the travel experience to myself. Please help me with this decision, and thank you in advance!

PS: Who excited for the trolls to go back to school?

This is an issue that the Au pair agency that you have found work through should help you with. You don't even tell us your nationality, which would also make a difference ...
